Youth Coach to Gain Professional Experience

Alejandro Rivera, SoccerViza Football Club youth coach, is set to attend SoccerViza’s Professional Scouting Tour beginning on June 16 in Toronto, ON.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity Joe Funicello has given me,” said Rivera. “I’m looking forward to learning how to better evaluate players at an elite level.”

Working alongside coaches from Portugal, Poland, and Cyprus, was an experience Rivera said he couldn’t miss. After an invite to the free Pro Scouting Tour last November, the former u16 White coach wanted to do a private event for the first time.

“I want our youth coaches to see what soccer is like beyond the United States,” said Joe Funicello, Director and CEO of SoccerViza. “Alejandro getting exposed to the professional environment is only going to help him evaluate and manage certain operations within our youth system (SVFC).”

Funicello said Rivera will also learn how to communicate, teach, and network at a higher level.

“Soccer is so opinionated that I love to see different point of views,” said Rivera. “What do coaches look for in a player? What makes a player different from others? What methods and networks can I use to communicate with other coaches?”

Youth Coach, Juan Gonzalez, also gained experience when he attended the Professional Scouting Tour in Florida last March.

"At SoccerViza, we want to create an environment for our coaches and players that is unmatched in Fairfield County," said Funicello. "A realistic connection to the professional game allows us to train our coaches and players in a way that isn't being seen in our area.

Rivera will be coaching a full year and a half year team this fall.
