U10 Boys Black Team -- New Coach

Shay Neary, signs for SoccerViza Football Club as an Assistant Coach for the U10 Boys Black team.

“I’m excited bring a unique style of coaching to the club,” said Neary. “I’m familiar with the club from working with Joe and the U10 Boys Black team for a month now. I fit in well with the program and value what SVFC already instills in its players.”

According to coach Neary, the first thing he noticed at SVFC was how family oriented it was.

“During my first practice the players didn’t know me but still introduced themselves and all shook my hand,” said Coach Neary. “Everyone warmed up together as one club and that’s something I enjoyed being a part of.”

Coach Neary grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut where he spent his youth years playing for South Central Academy. He went on to play high school soccer for the Trumbull Eagles and won an FCIAC championship in 2011. After high school, Coach Neary got recruited to play at Endicott as an outside back, alongside Goalkeeper Director, Nick Weinstein. Coach Neary is now a certified personal trainer at Equinox in Southport, Connecticut.

“The club is growing, and Shay is a coach with experience who has played at a high level, “said Joe Funicello, Director of Coaching. “He adds a different dimension to our coaching staff and I'm excited that he’ll be working with me on the U10 Black team."
