The SVFC U11 and U16 Boys teams will be competing in the 2019 Connecticut State Nutmeg Games starting Thursday night. Coach Juan Gonzalez will be heading the U11's while Coach Anthony Anzevui will be in charge of the U16's.
The U11 group will be playing their group stage games on Saturday before having the chance at a semi-final and a final on Sunday. If they win their group, they will just have to compete in the final Sunday afternoon.
"I'm excited to see how the boys adjust from the 7v7 game to the 9v9 game, it is a big step from U10 to U11. This is a good opportunity for this group to play together before the actual season starts in a fun and competitive summer tournament. I will be able to get a good early look at who has been playing over the summer and see the potential for this group at a very early stage," said Coach Juan.
The U16 boys will be playing three group stage games starting on Thursday evening. If they win their group, they will compete in the final Sunday morning. If they finish second in their group they have the chance to play in the third place game Sunday as well.
"I am looking forward to helping the team develop tactically during these games. I can't wait to play with this club after high school season and this tournament will help us get to know each other," said Max Fujimori, a midfielder on the U16 squad and a recent signing from NYCFC.
"I’m excited to join SoccerViza. I can’t wait to get on the field, with my teammates. I hope that I can improve my game and work hard for the team," said Alex Pasiakos, a center back on the U16 team, and recent signing from Beachside.
The Nutmeg State Games will be held up in New Britain, CT and we wish these two teams the best of luck.
